In an angry outburst, a man sprayed tomato ketchup on the television and sprayed paint all over a patio.
James Wheeler of Dawber Close, Gaywood, appeared in Lynn Magistrates’ Court on Thursday and pleaded guilty for criminal damage.
Sally Harris, Crown Prosecutor, told the court on Tuesday, November 22, last year that police had been called to an address in West Winch, near The Winch Pub, just off the A10 after reports were received of Wheeler tossing his partner’s clothing into a backyard.
He damaged a wall, a cupboard and he threatened to smash her car. In the course of this ordeal, he also painted a fence and patio.
Wheeler let the officers into his house when they arrived and explained that he had a small argument with his partner.
He replied that the state of his house is not the norm. “It’s just when I get a little freaked out.”
Wheeler told officers that he had bounced the ketchup off a TV. “I am currently cleaning it up.”
Ms Harris stated that Wheeler also expressed frustration at not being able to see his children, saying his partner was keeping them away from him.
Ruth Johnson, in an attempt to mitigate, said that the behaviour was simply a result of his frustration. He kicked the paint pot which painted over the patio and fence.
He did not think through the possible consequences.
Wheeler cleaned the paint with a pressure wash, according to Wheeler’s solicitor.
She added that “they (Wheeler, and his partner), are no longer together but they are still in touch – and she and her child are supported by him.”
Wheeler was fined PS80 by magistrates led by Paul Redhead. Wheeler will pay PS50 for legal fees and PS32 as victim surcharge.
