It is believed that a “devastating fire” at a Worcester Nursery was deliberately started.
The fire at Fairfield Day Nursery is being investigated by police and firefighters as an arson.
The staff said that they were devastated by the fire which destroyed the majority of outdoor play equipment at the nursery and the summerhouse.
The nursery issued a press release saying, “We’re absolutely devastated” by what happened Saturday night.
The fire that was deliberately started has caused damage to the outside of the building, the summerhouse for children, the storeroom, and outdoor equipment.
The nursery is located on The Fairfield Centre’s premises and has served the community for more than 20 years.
This senseless act of violence will directly impact the learning and development of children. Most of our outdoor toys, bikes for children, raincoats, boots, and wood furniture have been stolen.
The summer house was a great loss for our children. This was a place where they enjoyed sharing stories and also served as our Christmas Grotto.

On Saturday night (October 28), firefighters fought a fire that started around 8pm in Gamekeepers Drive, Ploughmans Clos and other nearby neighborhoods.
Four crews – two each from Worcester, Droitwich and Bromsgrove – attended the event.
He said that “one shed was completely destroyed in a fire, and another shed 4m x 3m suffered damage from the outside, while fence panels also were damaged.”
Two firefighters in breathing apparatus fought the fire with two hosereel Jets, and also used two triple extension Ladders.
The fire spread into a brick library. Its roof was removed to allow a thermal camera to detect hotspots.
The fire was investigated and arson is suspected. “Police attended but no injuries were reported.”
West Mercia Police spokesperson said that the fire was being investigated as an arson.
Officers are currently investigating this incident, and at the moment no arrests have been made.”
