Carabineros arrested a 40-year old man who had a long criminal record in connection with a robbery attempt at the “Perno Sur” hardware store located in Diego Portales No. 546, Osorno. A tool called a ‘Una de Hierro” was used to force the lock on the shop. The police took quick action to prevent the robbery. Detainees will be subject to a check.
Osorno – October 22nd, 2023. At around 9:30 am, a robbery attempt was foiled at the “Perno Sur” Hardware Store, located in Osorno. The “Perno Sur Hardware Store” in 546 was the site of a failed robbery. Thanks to Carabineros at the 1st Osorno Police Station, it was stopped.
Police responded to a call from a concerned citizen alerting them of alleged suspicious activity at the site. Witnesses reported that the suspect was wearing black clothing and forced the entrance curtain and lock of the business premises. Carabineros arrived at the scene and took control of the 40-year-old adult identified as J.A.L.V. He had a 40 cm long instrument called “Una de Fierro” in his possession, that he used to break the security lock.
Police acted quickly to stop the robbery and to protect the hardware store’s property.
J.A.L.V., the detainee has a long police history, with 26 cases in total, none of which are currently active. According to data from the police, his criminal record includes previous offenses, including the most recent one, which was the receiving crime.
The detainee has been ordered to appear at a check-in scheduled for the 23rd of October 2023 by the prosecutor in charge. Carabineros’ rapid action and arresting the suspect highlight how important public safety is and police commitment to keeping the community safe and their properties.
