Russia has accused Ukraine of carrying out a morning drone strike on Moscow, where one aircraft hit Crimea and fell close to the Defense Ministry main headquarters. Russian forces also attacked the south Ukrainian port infrastructure.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that drones hit two buildings but there were no injuries.

According to Defense Ministry both drones were destroyed after they had been jammed by military.

The drone that fell near the center of Moscow on the Komsomolsky road shattered shop windows, and damaged the roof of one house located just over 200 meters from the Defense Ministry.

Pantsyr Air Defense Systems are located on top of the main ministry headquarters.

It was not clear if the drone hit the Defense Ministry, which is located 1,7 miles from Kremlin. Or a different target in Moscow.

A drone strike that occurred in southern Moscow destroyed several floors, which caused greater damage.

Traffic was stopped on highways after drones were found, while workers examined damage.

Ukraine’s authorities have not yet claimed responsibility for this month’s drone attack in the Russian capital.

According to Russian officials, the Russian air force shot down four drones in the area around Moscow. A fifth drone was also jammed with electronic warfare.

Due to the raid on the airport, flights to and from Moscow were temporarily diverted through two other airports.

Dmitry Peskov said that drones have been used more often against the regions of our country.

Peskov added: “We’re taking action, working hard around the clock.” He did not elaborate on any specifics about the strengthening of Russian air defences.

After a second Ukrainian attack on a drone early Monday morning, major roads and rail lines that crossed the Black Sea peninsula illegally annexed by Moscow in 2014 were closed.

A few hours later the rail traffic had been restored.

Sergei Aksyonov – the Moscow-appointed Crimea head – said the authorities ordered several villages to be evacuated within three mile of the depot.

Although Aksyonov initially claimed that the military had jammed or shot down 11 attacking drones the Defense Ministry has later stated that eleven were jammed before they crashed into the Black Sea. Another three were then shot down.

Mykhailo Fedorov of Ukraine’s Digital Transformation Minister noted in his message app that Monday’s attacks by drones on Moscow and Crimea showed that Russian electronic warfare and air defense systems are not able protect their skies from invaders. “There will more be like them,” he added.

Ukrainska Pravda reports that the Ukrainian military intelligence was responsible for the drone strike on Moscow.

The drones that struck Crimea’s ammunition depot on Saturday sent huge clouds of black smoke in the air, forcing residents to leave.

Ukrainian officials claim that Russian forces used drones to destroy grain bins, cargo storage areas and port infrastructures on the Danube River in early morning hours. Seven people were injured and seven other facilities destroyed.

Ukrainian forces have shot down 3 drones that had been attacking Ukraine.

In southern Ukraine, critical port infrastructure has been damaged by a series of assaults over the last week.

The Kremlin claims that the attacks are in retaliation for the Ukrainian assault on Kerch Bridge last week.

On Saturday, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the Aspen Security Forum via video. He noted that Russia is using the bridge as a military transport route.

Russia continues to attack Odesa – a major grain hub – since Moscow cancelled the landmark grain contract a few days ago.

A Sunday attack in Odesa severely damaged the Transfiguration cathedral and 25 other landmarks, killing one victim, while wounding another 22.

UNESCO has confirmed that a mission is being sent in the near future to assess the damages to the cathedral as well as other cultural sites.

UNESCO had declared Odesa’s historical center a World Heritage sight earlier in the year. These attacks, however, contradict Moscow’s commitment to spare World Heritage sites located in Ukraine.

Russian air defense missiles, the Russian military claimed, likely targeted Transfiguration Cathedral.

Peskov claims that accusations made against Russia “absolutely are false”, and lack any supporting evidence.

In the last day, 10 Ukrainians have reported being wounded by Russian attack on Ukraine.
