The Village Aged Care Centre, Montague Village in Lavender Hills (Queensland), was facing a dark winter and no hope of fixing the roof leak.

Employee Community Partnership Program (ECPP) of the company brought together the employees to help the center.
The IT department of a company was entitled to a R5000 ECPP contribution, which amounted to a R150000 total contribution.
Giannian, a senior automation analyst in the IT department of the company, visited the center and said she was shocked by the conditions that the elderly (age 60-99) lived under.
San Giorgio continues, “The building was in need of urgent structural repairs, including roof damage and ceiling leaks resulting flooding. Also, water damage caused by rotting cabinets and unsanitary ablution facilities that needed to be upgraded immediately.”
The aged infrastructure presented serious safety and health issues to residents. My team and I therefore wanted to change residents’ lives by improving the facilities.
These funds have been used to make urgent repairs in the 13 room facility. This included updating the ceilings and roof, renovating the toilet facilities, and general maintenance including exterior and interior painting.
Blaauw says that the construction of this facility began in June, and lasted for about five months. The facility is now warm, and even when the weather outside is hot, it’s cool inside.
We were also blessed today with a chest-freezer after ours broke down this week. “We are forever grateful.”
The workers treated the elderly to a luncheon, a cake, and care packages on 1 December.
Valencia Lotteriet is the facility manager of this centre. She said that they had a difficult winter, but God provided a solution.
We had a hard and stormy winter. The roof had been repaired just before the storm hit. God sent the men to repair our roof because no one else could help us.
