A new video captures the moment a roof collapsed on a woman. Her husband and her child, who were just a few steps in front of her, barely avoided the fall.
Video shows roof starting to fall. The woman stuck under the roof was unable to be rescued by anyone.
Three men lifted her from the rubble.
She was transported to a hospital via ambulance. Her brother, who spoke with WINK News said that she was fine but suffered two fractures in her leg.
The business was closed on Wednesday and customers were asked to visit their Fort Myers store.
Video shows a woman leaving Harbor Freight in the worst possible time. The roof penetrates the store’s canopy in just a few seconds.
Her right leg got trapped underneath the object. It didn’t fall all the way over her. She was screaming. Luke Romano said, “She was screaming” as he helped to remove the roof rubble from the woman.
Romano said, “I feel a bit shaken.”
Romano, and anyone else who saw this collapse or saw the closed store sign here in the shop, is wondering what could have caused it.
Sutter Roofing has confirmed this property’s damage to WINK News. Records show that the property was repaired and passed inspection by May this year.
It was only six months ago that something went wrong.
The Lee County spokesperson sent this statement: “The county will ultimately require the property owner to repair damage and comply with current Land Development Codes for the structure.”
