According to City of Mountain View, a fire that broke out at a 24 unit apartment complex on Friday morning in Mountain View caused damages of $25,000 At 1:54 am, a 9-1-1 was called to report a fire that had broken out in the hall of the complex located in the 500 block West Middlefield Road.
Mountain View Fire Department arrived at the scene around 1:54 am to discover smoke and fire coming out of the wall that separated a hallway from one apartment unit. The residents of the apartment complex evacuated themselves before firefighters arrived.
The city reported that firefighters were able quickly put out the flames, before they could spread to other areas. The city said that firefighters performed an “extensive overhaul” on the unit in question and the hallway by cutting the walls open to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.
According to the city, there were no injuries. The building management located and temporarily located the resident of the residence. After the smoke had been cleared, all other residents were permitted to return to their apartments.
It was found that the fire had been started by an electrical panel malfunctioning behind a stove. The city estimated that the damage to the structure and contents of the apartment is $25,000
