Marana High School students were not in class on Friday due to a storm that knocked down power Thursday and caused damage. Students, teachers, and administrators still came to help clean.
After storms and high winds toppled trees at Marana High School, crushed greenhouses, and ripped off roofs from at least one structure, the new turf was laid on the field.
Chris Citro is an automotive technology teacher. “Lightning, wind, unbelievable.”
Citro aided in clearing brush all day.
He said, “I came to my place and I took care of it.”
Jaraldo described the scene on Thursday: “The power went out, and everyone was overreacting. Oh my god, we were all going to die.”
The storm made the long drive home even more difficult.
We live in Three Points and had to return via the Interstate.
He and his father Juan returned the next day to pick up the bag Jaraldo had left.
Jaraldo replied, “Yes and no. I have some important items in my wallet that I cannot get now. I will probably wait until the next week.”
Citro told the crowd, “I cannot promise that everything will go perfectly but we’ll try our hardest.” Citro said that he might return to the scene this weekend.
He replied, “If it’s necessary I will.”
TEP and Trico Electric Cooperative workers repaired poles all day Friday to restore normalcy to the region. It could be a while before broken solar panels or other damages are repaired.
Citro stated, “This home is.” Citro said, “This is home.”
I enjoy my job here. “It’s an amazing community.”
The district has stated that the school will be open on Monday but asks students and staff to avoid parking underneath the solar panels.
