The fire is thought to have been started by lightning in an area in Clay County on Monday. It caused significant interior and roof damage.

Action News Jax First Alert Weather reported 50 lightning strikes between 4:40 and 4:30 today in Orange Park.
Clay County Fire Rescue also responded at the same time to an incident involving a house fire off James Street. A spokesperson stated that it appeared a lightning struck caused the fire.
The anonymous neighbor commented that it was absolutely terrifying.
“The fire spread not just in width, but also height,” said an anonymous neighbor. It was a difficult fire to control for our firefighters.
Three command vehicles and four engines were rushed in to stop the fire.
Two people, and two dogs, were in the house at the time the fire broke out. Everyone escaped without injury and there were no reported injuries.
Unknown neighbor says the family has recently moved into the area and that the entire community rallies around them.
We want to give them a safe home, both for their pet and themselves. We’re in this for the long run, regardless of whether they accept our home or RV.
The Red Cross also came to help the family.
The house is currently considered unsafe for habitation.
The Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating to determine the extent and cause of the fire. As more information becomes available, we will release it.
